EIC: Implementing a CMS and Resource Management System

Helping the EIC to bring the message of implementation science to a very wide audience.

By building links and exchanging learning about implementation science and practice within Europe, the European Implementation Collaborative engages a broad range of individual and organisational stakeholders in the field of implementation science. Their aim is to "improve the life of children, youth, adults, and families in Europe through effective evidence-informed implementation of evidence-informed human services".

Background

The European Implementation Collaborative came to us with the idea of creating a website to curate the many high quality resources that are being produced around the area of implementation science so that they could be brought to a wider audience. The brief was to create a CMS and resource management system that would make all of these resources easily findable and also help people interested in implementation to more easily connect with each other.

Approach

We met with the the team at EIC to go through our discovery and content strategy process. Following this we presented them with a content strategy report and wireframe designs to show the general layout of the website that we had in mind. When these were accepted, we began the process of web design and development to create a clean, sharp, Flat UI-designed site that is mobile-friendly and "device agnostic", meaning it works great on any device, operating system, or browser.

Some notable features of the site include:

  • Calendar of events
  • Searchable resource database
  • Ability to network with other implementation practitioners
  • Members area
  • Database of regional implementation networks
  • Responsive design

The logo was designed by our partners at BrandCentral and was featured in Creative Review. BrandCentral said of the logo that "The client's primary brief was to produce a logo that would illustrate the importance of Implementation Science as this is unfamiliar territory to the public. To do this we devised a changeable logo comprised of a 9 dot grid where a path was created by joining any 3 dots in each variant, thereby illustrating that in a seemingly simple system like this there are up to 76 path options. The softer attributes - openness and approachability - were communicated by using a warm colour palette and soft shapes." In practice, when you view the website, the connecting dots change every second to a create a different connection.

Results

This website, designed by our lead web designer Lisa Corcoran, sets the framework for the European Implemenation Collaborative (EIC) to begin the process of "joining the dots" to get all the implementation networks together and to fulfill their aim "to improve the life of children, youth, adults, and families in Europe through effective evidence-informed implementation of evidence-informed human services".

We chose Annertech to build our brand new website www.implementation.eu. From the outset the project had really strict timeframes which Annertech met without fail. Their vast technical knowledge is clear and every aspect of their work was carried out to the highest standard. Innovative, supportive, reliable and reactive the Annertech team were a pleasure to work with. They have set us up with a fantastic website and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
