Join us at LocalGov Drupal Camp 2025 in London this Thursday. As gold sponsors, we’ll be hosting, presenting and even buying the drinks! Don’t miss it!

This Thursday, the Abbey Centre in London will host a key event in the local government tech calendar: LocalGov Drupal Camp. And it’s going to be a busy one.

From 9am to 5pm, contributors, developers, and council partners will come together to share knowledge, successes, and ideas for the future of digital services in the public sector.

Be sure to pop by our booth in the exhibition area where you can meet Director of Delivery Mike King, Frontend Specialist Tony Barker and Director of Managed Services Anthony Lindsay. Tony and Anthony will also be taking part in two highly anticipated talks at 2pm, so be sure not to miss them!

And from 6pm drinks are on us at the Barley Mow, a six-minute walk away. Enjoy lively conversation and fresh connections – the perfect way to round off a dynamic day of local gov tech.

Flourishing within the Drupal ecosystem: A deep dive with Tony Barker

Join Tony, Finn Lewis (LocalGov Drupal Tech Lead), and Aaron Hirtenstein (LocalGov Drupal Community Lead) in the Sancho room at 2pm for an insightful session titled: “How LocalGov Drupal flourishes within the Drupal ecosystem: Migrating to Drupal.org and leveraging its credits system.”

This talk will explore the evolving role of LocalGov Drupal (LGD) in the wider Drupal ecosystem, showing how it's grown as a powerful, community-driven project that delivers real value to councils – and beyond.

The session will explore four key themes:

  1. The ecosystem: Explore what makes for the healthy and nurturing LocalGov Drupal ecosystem and its place in the wider Drupal ecosystem. Discover the components of successful Drupal initiatives and projects in the UK and Ireland and beyond.
  2. Collaboration and community: How collaboration and community is at the heart of what we do. Methods of working together and what makes for healthy collaboration – even between competitors. The session will examine the Drupal Code of Conduct and how it helps to guide us in our interactions.
  3. Features and product architecture: Understanding the layers: LGD, contributed modules and Drupal core. Why pushing more into contrib is beneficial to everyone. How different Drupal projects interrelate and support one another.
  4. Migrating to Drupal.org and using the credits system: The benefits of hosting LocalGov Drupal projects on Drupal.org. How accounts, the issue queue and GitLab integrate into the workflow. Leveraging the Drupal credits system to acknowledge contributions and grow visibility.

This session is ideal for anyone interested in open source collaboration, discovering the Drupal way, and scaling impact through community-driven development.

Here’s why you’ll want a front-row seat

“In creating this session together with Finn and Aaron, I was reminded once again how commitment to good practice and collaboration continues to be the driving force behind Drupal projects and how that is a recipe for growth in LocalGov Drupal, a tangible asset for local government in the UK and Ireland and beyond.”

One platform, many sites: Anthony Lindsay weighs in on Essex County Council’s digital transformation

Also at 2pm, over in the Parker Morris room, Anthony will attend a panel discussion titled: “One platform, many sites: How Essex County Council centralised LGD delivery (and what we learned)”.

The session will feature Catherine Barton and Jennifer Scopes from Essex County Council, and Paul Jenkins and Louwrens Erasmus from Big Blue Door.

Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Essex streamlined their digital infrastructure using LocalGov Drupal to serve multiple services and departments, delivering efficiency, consistency and cost savings.

"Essex's journey shows what’s possible when you bring teams together around a single platform. If you're thinking about scaling, centralising or just making digital delivery simpler, come hear what we’ve learned. Collaboration, just like Drupal, can be a very powerful tool.”

– Managed Services Director Anthony Lindsay
