Wooden blocks in the shape of a loudspeaker

Join Annertech at DrupalCon Vienna 2025 for three dynamic sessions covering frontend battles, the psychology of shame and the cutting edge of Drupal theming with Declarative Shadow DOM.

DrupalCon Vienna 2025 is almost here, and Annertech is showing up with not one, not two, but three powerhouse sessions. From a playful frontend showdown to deep discussions about the emotional side of work, and a peek into the future of Drupal theming, our talks promise to educate, entertain and inspire. Here’s what we’ve got in store:

1. BEM vs Tailwind death match: A lighthearted battle to the (front) end

  • Tony Barker
  • Tuesday, October 14, 2025
  • 2.45pm – 3.30pm
  • Room 6 (Hall G1)

Frontenders, full stack devs, and themers: prepare for a clash of styles! In true Oasis vs Blur “Battle of Britpop” fashion, Tony Barker will pit BEM against Tailwind in a series of challenges. You may laugh, you may cry, you may learn, and yes, you’ll get to vote for the ultimate victor. Don’t worry, no methodologies will be harmed in the making of this session.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Understand the strengths (and quirks) of each approach
  • The session uncovers practical cases, not just theory
  • Decide which system reigns supreme
  • See the strengths of Drupal’s adaptability and its community in action

  • John Albin Wilkins
  • Thursday, October 16, 2025
  • 9.15am – 9.35am
  • Room 7 (Hall G2)

We talk about imposter syndrome. We talk about burnout. But shame? Not so much. John Albin Wilkins will shine a light on this hidden driver of work struggles, from procrastination to poor problem-solving. This is a candid, compassionate session for anyone who’s felt “not good enough” and wants a deeper understanding of why – and what to do about it.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Learn the difference between shame and imposter syndrome
  • Understand how shame affects your work and relationships
  • Take away strategies for healing and growth

  • John Albin Wilkins
  • Thursday, October 16, 2025
  • 4.15pm – 5pm
  • Room 1 (-2.32)

Drupal theming is about to get a futuristic glow-up. John Albin Wilkins will explore how Declarative Shadow DOM and Single Directory Components can bring modern, component-based architecture right into Drupal’s core rendering system. If you’re ready to make Drupal “cool again,” this is where the magic happens.

Why you’ll love it:

  • See how server-side rendering meets modern Web Components
  • Learn the ins and outs of Declarative Shadow DOM
