Annertech wins LocalGov Drupal developer position
Securing a new developer contract to support LocalGov Drupal alongside our existing contributions has bolstered our continued commitment to the project and community.
LocalGov Drupal recently advertised a role for a part-time Drupal developer to further support the project’s growth. At the same time, Annertech was already funding Frontend Developer Tony Barker to work two days a week on LocalGov Drupal initiatives.
Now, with the developer contract officially awarded to Annertech, the project gains even more momentum – enabling full-time development support for LocalGov Drupal.
Tony, already deeply involved in both the Drupal CMS and LocalGov Drupal communities, has been appointed as lead developer. He sits on the LocalGov Drupal Technical Governance Committee and brings over 15 years of Drupal experience.
Supporting him is Full-Stack Developer Christopher Torgalson, who brings more than 18 years of expertise and will focus on tackling more complex development challenges.
Together, Tony and Christopher form a highly experienced duo. Both have worked closely with local authority digital teams, supporting agile development projects and contributing to the evolution of LocalGov Drupal.
Tony, formerly part of our support team, brings frontline insight into the real-world challenges councils face, having maintained and supported LocalGov Drupal sites and Microsites directly. More recently working alongside Christopher on our Projects team, their combined knowledge will be invaluable.
Proven leadership in open source
As a Drupal CMS Maintainer and Media Management Track Lead, Tony has led volunteer teams and managed community contributions, demonstrating an ability to listen, collaborate, and take decisive action. He’s already planning new improvements to benefit both councils and developers using the LocalGov Drupal platform.
Taking on more LocalGov Drupal work was an easy decision. Annertech has long been an active member of the Drupal and LocalGov Drupal communities – contributing code, organising events, and speaking at DrupalCon. Dedicating highly experienced developers to work on the project reinforces our belief in the value of open source and our commitment to the project's success.
