We’re skipping the Christmas cards
Every year at Annertech, we opt out of sending Christmas cards, choosing instead to donate to causes close to our hearts across the UK and Ireland. It’s our way of helping amazing organisations deliver crucial support to their local communities.
"We believe in helping the communities we work in, across both Ireland and the UK," says Annertech’s Director of Technology, Alan Burke.
"Each of these charities delivers tangible, essential support – whether that is fighting food poverty, helping young people find stability, protecting our environment or supporting those living with dementia. We are proud to support their crucial work."
"It is a lovely tradition that our team chose to start years ago and we are delighted to continue making these donations in lieu of cards this festive season," Alan adds.
This year, we are thrilled to be supporting four brilliant charities: Avon Wildlife Trust, MACS NI, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Luton Foodbank. We chose these groups because they align with our commitment to community, sustainability, and inclusion, helping people and nature thrive.
Here is a little more about the fantastic work these four organisations do.
Avon Wildlife Trust
The Avon Wildlife Trust is the largest local charity working to protect nature and inspire people in the West of England.
They manage nearly 800 hectares of prime habitat, ranging from urban parks and ancient woodlands to rare wildflower meadows, working hard to reverse the decline in local wildlife populations.
The trust is also deeply committed to connecting people with nature through their Team Wilder movement, which supports communities and individuals to take action for wildlife in their local area.
By creating connected living landscapes and advocating for 30% of land and sea to be managed for nature by 2030, they are providing crucial, nature-based solutions to the climate crisis.
Visit the websiteThe Alzheimer Society of Ireland
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading national organisation in Ireland providing dementia-specific services and advocating for the rights of people living with dementia and their carers.
Their vision is to create an Ireland where people on the journey of dementia are valued, can realise their rights, and are able to live well where they choose.
The ASI operates a National Helpline and a vast range of community-based supports, including day care, home care, family carer training, Alzheimer cafes, and social clubs.
These services are person-centred, striving to meet the individual needs and wishes of those affected by dementia to maximise their quality of life.
Visit the websiteMACS NI
MACS Supporting Children and Young People is a vital youth-specific homelessness charity in Northern Ireland, working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 25 who may be leaving care, experiencing homelessness, or struggling with their mental health.
Their mission is to end youth homelessness by offering comprehensive, holistic, and personalised support.
The charity offers a range of services, including supported housing, floating support to maintain accommodation in the community, and a dedicated wellbeing service providing one-to-one or mentoring support to help young people with mental health, social networks, and essential life skills.
MACS ensures these young people are equipped to build confidence, resilience, and independence for a brighter future.
Visit the websiteLuton Foodbank
Luton Foodbank is a charitable organisation dedicated to tackling hunger and food insecurity within the local community, ensuring that no one in Luton goes hungry.
They work tirelessly to provide short-term, nutritionally balanced, emergency food parcels to individuals and families facing a crisis, which has become increasingly vital amid the cost-of-living challenges.
The charity is powered by community collaboration and volunteers, aiming not only to provide immediate relief but also to signpost people towards long-term support to resolve the underlying issues that led to their hardship.
Luton Foodbank is more than a distribution point; it is a lifeline that helps local families maintain dignity and focus on rebuilding their financial stability.
Conclusion
Choosing to support incredible organisations is a highlight of our year. Each one of these reflects the values we hold dear at Annertech – whether that’s protecting the natural world, supporting mental health and stability for young people, or providing essential care and food security for those who need it most.
As we look back on 2025, we are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the communities that make our work possible.
We want to thank our clients, partners and friends for their continued support, which allows us to contribute to these vital causes in place of traditional cards.
We wish everyone a peaceful festive season and a very happy new year.
