Join us at the inaugural LocalGov Drupal Dev Days!
We are thrilled to announce that Annertech is officially sponsoring the first-ever LocalGov Drupal Developer Days, taking place on 11 and 12 February 2026. This landmark event is a two-day, hybrid experience – meaning you can join us in the heart of London at SPACE4 or participate from anywhere in the world via Zoom.
Why LocalGov Drupal Dev Days?
LocalGov Drupal (LGD) is more than just a CMS; it’s a movement of councils and suppliers collaborating to build better digital services for citizens.
LGD Dev Days is designed to take that collaboration to the next level. Whether you are an experienced Drupal developer or a council team member looking to understand the technical roadmap, these two days are for you.
The programme has a three-pronged approach:
- Collaborate: Work alongside the brightest minds in the LGD community.
- Learn: Discover battle-tested solutions for complex council challenges.
- Contribute: Directly help shape the future of the platform.
"There is a unique energy that happens when you get a room full of developers together, all focused on the same codebase. It’s a massive opportunity to move the needle on a few key focus areas and make more progress in 48 hours than we might otherwise make in a month of remote work," says Annertech Frontend Developer Tony Barker, who is also the lead developer for LocalGov Drupal.
The programme: Two epic days
Day 1: Learning Day (Wednesday 11 February)
Day one is all about knowledge sharing. Enjoy a well-curated series of 45-minute deep dives from suppliers and council contributors.
Highlights include:
- Accessibility mastery: Maria Young (Agile Collective) on “Labelling done right“.
- Performance: Graham Cole (Webcurl) on “Battle-tested Drupal website availability“.
- Advanced theming: Marco Pagliarulo (Big Blue Door) on using Vite with LGD Microsites. This is also Tony’s pick of the week. Vite (French for “fast”) is a frontend build tool designed to provide a significantly faster development experience.
- Complex workflows: A panel session on building transaction workflows within Drupal.
Day 1: Evening social
Don't forget: We’ll be heading to Pappagone’s at 6pm for pizza, pasta, and socialising! Make sure to register.
Register for the socialDay 2: Contribution Day (Thursday 12 February)
This is where the magic happens. Day 2 is a hands-on “sprint” day. Hosted by community leaders Tim Hunt, Aaron Hirtenstein and Finn Lewis, this day is dedicated to:
- Solving existing bugs.
- Discussing technical challenges in real-time.
- Enhancements that will benefit every council using the platform.
One aim is to work toward stable releases of Elections and Waste Collection modules.
Experienced people will be on hand to help first-time contributors on the day.
Contributors will split into groups to work through projects and issues (mostly self-organised on the day) and use Zoom breakout rooms.
Annertech & LocalGov Drupal
As long-time advocates of the “Build to Share” philosophy, Annertech has been involved with LocalGov Drupal since its beta phase. From leading the frontend base theme to developing the Irish Service Catalogue, our goal has always been to make digital services more accessible and cost-effective.
“Sponsoring LocalGov Drupal Dev Days is a natural extension of our commitment to this community,” says Managing Director Stella Power.
“We believe that by empowering developers, we ultimately empower the citizens who rely on council websites every day.”
This dedication to the community is shared by our developers who work on the codebase daily. Tony explains why the opportunity for real-time, face-to-face problem-solving is so valuable.
“I’m really looking forward to the ‘Contribution Day’ on Thursday,” says Tony.
“LGD is built on the collective brilliance of its contributors, and having that face-to-face time allows us to troubleshoot technical hurdles in real-time and ship features that will immediately benefit dozens of councils.”
But it’s not just about the technical breakthroughs.
“While the technical deep-dives are the core of the event, I’m definitely looking forward to unwinding with the community over some pizza at Pappagone’s. It’s often during those informal chats that the best ideas are born,” adds Tony.
See you there!
The event is free for all councils and certified suppliers, but tickets are limited!
Whether you’re joining us for coffee in London or logging in via Zoom, we can't wait to see you there. Let's build the future of local government together!
